The Chery Tiggo 7 Pro is expected to be launched at the upcoming Malaysia Autoshow 2024, marking the third model from the brand following the Omoda 5 and Tiggo 8 Pro.
The Proton X70 rival has an estimated price tag of below RM 130,000. Like the Omoda 5 and Tiggo 8 Pro, the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro will be locally assembled in Kulim, Kedah, at the Inokom plant.
In terms of design, the Tiggo 7 Pro presents a more conventional SUV appearance compared to the bold styling of the Omoda 5. Its exterior features include LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, and full-width LED taillights, lending it a modern aesthetic.
Size wise, the Tiggo 7 Pro measures 4,513 mm in length, 1,862 mm in width, and 1,696 mm in height. For reference, the Proton X70 has a length of 4,519 mm, width of 1,831 mm, height of 1,694 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,670 mm.
Under the bonnet lies a 1.6-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with 197 PS/290 Nm, channeled to the front wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
Sidetrack: Yours truly had a brief stint in the Tiggo 7 Pro in China, courtesy of Chery Malaysia, where an acceleration test was conducted.
Initial impressions are that the engine feels boost-y as the shove comes in rather strongly above 2k rpm. Shifts are clean and snappy enough to remind you itβs a DCT. Steering is light, which makes it effortless to manoeuvre around town. Cabin noise is par for the course for its segment.
And that is as far as quick impressions go, more seat time is required for a more detailed evaluation.
Picking up where we left off β the interior. Inside, the Tiggo 7 Pro features a widescreen display panel with dual 12.3-inch screens for instruments and infotainment.
Standard amenities include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, wireless charger, ambient lighting, panoramic roof, 540-degree camera system, and an 8-speaker Sony audio system.
A full suite of advanced driving assistance (ADAS) is equipped, which bundles autonomous emergency braking, blind spot detection, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, rear-cross traffic alert with braking.
The Malaysia Autoshow is scheduled to take place from 22- to 26-May 2024, operating from 10 am to 10 pm at MAEPS Serdang. Entry tickets are priced at RM 20 per person, with complimentary admission provided for children under 9 years old, senior citizens aged 60 and above, as well as individuals with disabilities (OKU).
