Indonesia was one of a few countries in the world that did not see the Toyota Hilux lead the pick-up truck segment. Instead, the leader was the Mitsubishi Triton and at the ongoing 2024 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS), the all-new 2024 Mitsubishi Triton was launched in the archipelago.
6 variants comprising four double cab and two single cab variants are available in Indonesia with prices ranging between IDR 301,350,000 (~RM 87k) to IDR 525,600,000 (~RM 152k).

The all-new Triton is redeveloped from the ground up with a new ladder frame chassis that has 65% more cross-sectional area than its predecessor. The Three Diamonds claims this gives 40% greater bending rigidity and 60% greater torsional rigidity.
The Indo-spec Triton receives the mid-output version of the 2.4-litre 4-cylinder 4N16 turbodiesel engine that makes 184 PS and 430 Nm. There is a higher output version of the unit that makes 204 PS and 470 Nm which is found in the Thai-spec Triton Athlete but this variant was not announced at the Indo launch.
The all-new Triton is offered with a choice of two six-speed transmissions – manual or automatic – and comes with 7 drive modes courtesy of the Super Select-II system.
Depending on the variants, the Indo-market Triton offers an 8-inch infotainment head unit, dual-zone climate control, a wireless charger, and leather upholstery.
ADAS features available on the all-new Triton include autonomous emergency braking (AEB), blind-spot monitoring, lane change assist, and adaptive cruise control (ACC).
Back in Malaysia, Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM) is expected to launch the all-new Triton within the second half of this year. You can expect the all-new Triton to see an increase in prices given the addition of new features.
The outgoing Triton is still available in Malaysia and MMM is offering customers cash rebates of up to RM 7,000 or a low interest rate of 0.88%. Prices for the Triton range from RM 110,000 to RM 155,900.
