The all-new 2021 Toyota Prius C, otherwise known as Aqua, has been spotted in Japan. The new Toyota Prius C is expected to debut mid-July, which is less than a month away.

Like the Japanese/European Toyota Yaris, the new Prius C will be underpinned by the TNGA-B platform. Creative311 reports that the new Prius C will adopt a foot-type parking brake, rather than an electric parking brake that is able to support auto brake hold feature.

Powertrain details are unconfirmed at the moment. Though it’s worth noting that the global version of the Toyota Yaris features a 1.5-litre 3-cylinder engine that runs on an Atkinson-cycle, mated to a CVT and an electric motor. Power output is 116 PS combined.

When it debuts in Japan, the new Prius C will go up against the Honda Jazz e:HEV as well as the Nissan Note Aura.
