Mitsubishi Motors Corporation (MMC) is forecasting a sharp 15.9% increase in sales in Southeast Asia, for its current financial year ending March 2025.

In its last financial year ending March 2024, the company reported a 9% drop in Southeast Asian sales, to 239,000 units.

A slowdown in Thailand’s and Indonesia’s economies, which historically contributes nearly 60% of MMC’s sales in the ASEAN trade bloc, had dragged down the company’s financial results. MMC’s profit margin slipped from 7.7% to 6.8%.

For the current fiscal year, MMC is expecting Southeast Asia’s economy to improve in the second half of this fiscal year (October 2024 – March 2025).

Specifically for Malaysia, MMC is forecasting a 3.7% improvement in sales. The launch of the much-anticipated new 2024 Mitsubishi Triton – expected to be within the second half of this year - will undoubtedly give Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia some much-needed boost.

As a newer model with a higher level of features, prices are expected to go up in tandem. In Thailand, prices of the highest specifications Triton Athlete variant went up by 11%.

The outgoing generation Mitsubishi Triton is still on offer in Malaysia, with up to RM 7,000 in cash rebates. There’s also an additional trade-in deals of up to RM 4,000. Government servants will get RM 1,000 extra, or RM 2,000 if they own a Mitsubishi vehicle.
