Renowned Honda tuner Mugen recently unveiled a range of performance and aesthetic upgrades for the (FL5) Honda Civic Type R. Initially showcased at the Tokyo Auto Salon expo in January, these enhancements are now available for order in selected markets.

The highlight of Mugen's new offerings include an aero kit that significantly alters the vehicle's appearance. This kit features a striking front lip spoiler, side sills, corner intakes on the front fascia, and a rear under spoiler topped off with a larger wing made from Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP).

Additionally, a standout single-exit exhaust tip is set to be released as a future upgrade. The package also includes 19-inch Mugen wheels developed in collaboration with BBS.

These modifications are not just for show; they increase the downforce by 25 percent, whilst cutting weight down, promising even better performance from what is already the Nurburgring record holder in the front-wheel-drive production class. 

Inside, the upgrade options continue with a carbon centre console, Alcantara shift knob, Mugen floor mats, and lightweight MS-C front seats. If you want to go further, Mugen also offers door handle protectors, branded keycase and even a sunshade.

Mugen also plans to introduce upgraded dampers and performance brake pads, with the dampers available now, but the brakes and large rear spoiler set to be released later this year. The wheels will be available in August.

The company is also slated to introduce a new LED taillight assembly and sports steering wheel in due course.

According to Motor1.com, customers in the US can already order the kit consisting of the lip spoiler, side sills, and rear under spoiler with the total cost of these items listed at USD 2,065 (~RM 9,736).
