At the ongoing Auto China 2024 held in Beijing, Honda launched its second set of Honda e:N Series battery electric vehicles (BEV) for the Chinese market.
The Honda e:NP2 produced by GAC Honda goes on sale with a CNY 159,800 (~RM 105k) price tag. Meanwhile, its twin produced by Dongfeng Honda, the Honda e:NS2 will begin sales in June. Honda has two joint ventures in China with both brands offering twin models of each other like the Honda CR-V/Breeze and the Honda Civic/Integra.
The Big H is targeting to introduce 10 Honda BEV models in China by 2027 as it aims to only sell BEVs in the worldโs largest car market by 2035. Hondaโs first e:N Series introduced was the e:NS1 and e:NP1 which resemble an electric HR-V.
While they debuted in China, the BEV HR-V was eventually introduced overseas with Thailand seeing a launch of the e:N1 later in 2024.
Unlike the e:NS1/e:NP1, the second model of the e:N Series is unique on its own. Both are rather good-looking SUVs and there are some distinctions in exterior design between the e:NP2 and e:NS2 with the former going for elegance and the latter being sportier of the two.

Both the e:NP2 and e:NS2 are built on the e:N Architecture F platform but based on the dimensions, it is close to the Honda Civic which puts it in the C-segment category. The latest Honda BEV is powered by a single front-mounted electric motor (204 PS/310 Nm) and is juiced up by a CATL-sourced 68.8-kWh ternary lithium-ion battery with a 545-km range (CLTC standard).
Inside, the production version of both e:NP2 and e:NS2 retain the features that were previously shown in the concept unveiled at the 2023 Shanghai Motor Show. Both models are equipped with a large-sized head-up display with interior light emission patterns that change in conjunction with vehicle functions.
Exclusively designed for Honda BEVs in China is the large 12.8-inch infotainment display in the middle of the centre console with the latest version of Honda Connect 4.0.
Another feature Honda is proud to debut in the e:NP2/e:NS2 is the Intelligent Heating System that minimises power consumption when driving in the winter โ Not that our tropical climate needs more heat.
For now, the e:NP2 and e:NS2 remain only in China but the Civic-sized BEV SUV surely looks ready for a global introduction, right?
After all, the first model in the e:N Series has been launched in Europe and Thailand so itโs probably only a matter of time before the Honda e:NP2/e:NS2 does not remain a forbidden fruit outside of China.
