Adding one more model to its expanding list, China's Neta Auto have unveiled the Neta L at the ongoing Beijing International Auto Show. Two powertrains are planned for it – it's launched as a range-extender electric vehicle (REEV), battery-electric (BEV) variants to come later – and it has its own generative AI software.
The REEV variant promises a range of up to 1,070 km, combining a 1.5-litre engine with a 30.06 kWh battery, good for a combined power output of 231 PS and 310 Nm. Neta says it boasts a fuel efficiency figure of 4.85-litres/100 km; and only needs to be "refueled twice a year" – as long as you keep that battery topped off.
Where dimensions are concerned, the Neta L is 4,770 mm long, 1,900 mm wide, and 1,660 mm tall, sitting on a 2,810 mm wheelbase. It's between the Proton X70 and Proton X90 in size, and seats five.
Meanwhile, inside it comes with two 15.6-inch large screens, and a central control screen that extends to the passenger side, with the software side of things powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155P chip. Other key features within the cabin are multi-way electric seats with massage, ventilation, and heating modes, a refrigerator, and a 16-speaker surround sound system.
Most notably however is that the Neta L debuts the company's first language processing model, the Neta GPT. It's as it says - a generative AI that can allow one to converse with their car to use its functions, think ChatGPT but in a car.
For driving assistance, the new vehicle is equipped with Neta AD automatic parking assist alongside a full set of ADAS. Prices in China range from CNY 129,900 to CNY 159,900 (~RM 85k to ~RM 105k).
Is it coming to Malaysia?
Although Neta Malaysia is currently represented by only the RM 100k Neta V BEV, it's only a matter of time before more models start trickling in. Not many carmakers can survive with just one model, and Neta's range is pretty big in China – they've got a two-door sports car, a GT, and now this SUV.
Neta themselves has also said that the Neta L will make its way to 20 countries from the second half of this year, so time will tell...
