Chery Sales Indonesia (CSI) has announced a recall for 420 units of the Chery Omoda 5, to inspect the rear axle. This follows a similar announcement in Malaysia on 30-April, involving 600 locally assembled (CKD) Malaysian market cars produced at the Inokom plant in Kulim. The 420 units recalled in Indonesia were locally assembled at contract manufacturer PT Handal Indonesia Motor’s plant in Bekasi. Oddly, the announcement came two weeks after Chery Sales Indonesia's denial on 2-May 2024 that the

The Chery Tiggo 7 Pro is expected to be launched at the upcoming Malaysia Autoshow 2024, marking the third model from the brand following the Omoda 5 and Tiggo 8 Pro. For the first time since a single car incident was reported 28-April, Chery Malaysia is now describing the exercise as a ‘recall.’ The company's earlier statements issued to the press had avoided using the word 'recall.' Following the recent viral video of a Chery Omoda 5 allegedly experiencing a rear axle (specifically, a lower control arm) failure, Chery Malaysia confirmed today that it will inspect a further 600 cars to check and if necessary, replace the affected parts. Chery says the issue is traced back to a "facility upgrade exercise." Presumably, this refers to the company's contract manufacturer Inokom's plant in Kulim. The Chery Omoda 5 is locally assembled (CKD) in Kulim. The 600 affected cars are tra
