The WapCar Car of the Year Awards 2021 has kicked off; it’s that time of the year when we shortlist the best cars for your voting pleasure.
22 models have been shortlisted across four categories, one of which is Affordable Car of the Year. In this category, we’ve rounded up six cars that are under RM 100k; the entries are:

All three B-segment staple sedans – Honda City, Nissan Almera, and Toyota Vios – are in for the run. The Almera won last year’s awards and is now defending its title.

As a fellow colleague have said, these cars have evolved from being merely 'point A to point B' cars to sophisticated, feature-laden and multi-talented products. For less than RM 100k, any of these 3 cars can give you years of trouble-free motoring.

Then we have the B-segment hatchbacks – Toyota Yaris and Perodua Myvi. We would’ve included the Honda City Hatchback if it were launched before this voting poll commenced. But alas, it was not meant to be.

The Perodua Myvi was just refreshed, now with a new transmission and a bump in advanced safety features.

Lastly, there’s the Perodua Ativa, which was one of the most anticipated cars of 2021. If you’ve been following our website or YouTube channel, you would know that we bought a Perodua Ativa for the purpose of giving you insights to a long-term ownership experience.

While we do have our dislikes about the Ativa, it’s a well packaged little SUV that’s attractively priced. And no, we’re not logging in to vote for it daily just because we have one.
So that’s our shortlist for Affordable Car of the Year. You get to decide which one of these should win, so cast your votes (voting ends on 19-December 2021) and keep your eyes peeled for the result.
