Alongside the updated Mazda 2 Sedan/Hatchback, Bermaz Motor has also launched the updated 2024 Mazda CX-3 in Malaysia. Just like the previous update, Mazda’s entry-level SUV model is fully imported (CBU) from Thailand and is offered in 3 variants:
1.5 Plus – RM 115,720 (+RM 7,800, up from RM 107,920)
2.0 Plus – RM 126,159 (+RM 7,800, up from RM 118,359)
2.0 High – RM 139,159 (+RM 7,800, up from RM 131,559)
Massive price bump aside, the biggest change on the updated MY-spec CX-3 is the Core variants are being dropped entirely. In the place of the 1.5 Core and 2.0 Core variants are the 1.5 Plus and 2.0 Plus.
This isn’t just a simple name ‘upgrade’ as the lower variants of the CX-3 are now better equipped than before. Standard on the Plus variants are LED headlights, LED DRLs, auto-folding outer mirrors, and rear parking sensors.
Previously, the Core variants were offered with halogen headlights, bulb-type DRLs, and a reverse camera. The price jump of the entry variants might be forgiven with the inclusion of these enhanced features.
Another upgrade given to the Plus variants are wireless Apple CarPlay and paddle shifters. Besides, the updated CX-3 has also been given a massive boost in standard safety features which include 6 airbags and the i-Activsense ADAS suite which are:
High Beam Control (HBC)
Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM)
Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA)
Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS)
Smart City Brake Support (SCBS)
Compared to the Plus variants, specifications for the top-of-the-range 2.0 High remain unchanged. It is the only variant to be equipped with a new 16-inch alloy wheel design, front parking sensors, leather seats, sunroof, a wireless charger, and a 360-degree view monitor.
Aside from these further enhancements, the updated CX-3 is visually almost unchanged from the previous update. Also unchanged are the naturally aspirated powertrains which are the 1.5-litre Skyactiv-G (114 PS/149 Nm) and the 2.0-litre Skyactiv-G (154 PS/206 Nm). Both units are paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission that drives the front wheels.
