This was what caused the heavy black smoke in Subang

Residents in Subang were treated to a spectacle of very thick black smoke rising into the sky over the weekend. The cause of the black smoke was an overturned tanker that burst into flames along the Kesas Expressway.

The oil tanker was transporting about 20,000-litres of diesel and on its way to Shah Alam. According to The Star, the driver had lost control of his vehicle and crashed down the hill-slope.

Fortunately, the driver managed to escape from the vehicle before it burst into flames, so nobody was hurt in the incident.

From various photos on social media, the incident looked to have caused two fires on each side of the highway. But it was later learned that the fire on the other direction of the highway was caused by fuel that had flowed from the accident site through a tunnel underneath the highway.

Fire engines from Subang, Kota Anggerik, and Shah Alam were dispatched to the scene to put out the fire.
