BYD has launched a new and improved 2024 BYD Dolphin in China late last month. Changes are minor, but the highlight of the new 2024 BYD Dolphin range – now referred to Honor Edition - is its 14% lower starting price. A new 32.3 kWh (302 km range, CLTC) entry variant also joins the Dolphin range.

The 2024 BYD Dolphin is priced in China from 99,800 RMB to 129,800 RMB (~RM 65.5k to RM 85.2k). Previously, the Dolphin was priced from 116,800 RMB to 139,800 RMB (~RM 76.6k to RM 91.8k).

The most obvious difference with the 2024 model is a new wheel design. The rear windows now feature darker tint privacy glass, straight from the factory.

Inside, there’s now USB-C charging ports, new 55-Watt wireless charger for smartphones, and ventilated front seats.

BYD says ride is now more comfortable, thanks to improved suspension tuning.

Two new exterior colours, Atlantis Grey and Heatwave Red join the colour palette.

Like all recent BYD models in China, the 2024 model year Dolphin's electric drivetrain comes with a lifetime warranty covering the battery, motor, and power control electronics. However, this lifetime warranty is non-transferrable and only covers the first owner.

In big Chinese cities, the average car buyer keeps their car for only around 3 to 5 years.

In Malaysia, Sime Darby Beyond Auto sells the Dolphin in two variants, priced from RM 100,530 for the 44.9 kWh / 410 km range Dynamic Standard variant, and RM 125,530 for the 60.48 kWh / 490 km range Premium Extended variant.
