Naza Eastern Motors has opened booking for the Suzuki Jimny 5-Door in Malaysia, as announced its social media platforms.
Specifications of the Jimny 5-Door for Malaysia is yet to be revealed, but based on the global specs, power comes from the familiar K15B 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated 4-cylinder engine, delivering 102 PS/130 Nm.
Transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic gearbox, with the latter expected to be standard, aligning with the three-door model's configuration in the Malaysian market.
Its dimensions measure 3,985 mm in length (340 mm from the original three-door model), 1,645 mm in width, and 1,720 mm in height, all enveloping a 2,590 mm wheelbase. This elongation not only increases rear legroom but also the cargo space, which has expanded from 85 litres to 211 litres.
Equipped with Suzuki's AllGrip part-time four-wheel-drive system featuring a low-range transfer case, the Jimny 5-Door retains its off-road capabilities from its 3-door counterpart, albeit with a slightly compromised break-over angle due to its elongated body. Ground clearance remains at 210 mm, while the approach and departure angles have been marginally changed.
Pricing in Malaysia is still too early to speculate, but itβs worth noting that in Indonesia, the 5-Door variant commands only a 4 percent premium over its 3-door counterpart. For reference, the pricing of the Jimny 3-Door models in Malaysia is as follows:
