Subaru's stand at the ongoing Singapore Motor Show (which runs from 11- to 14-Jan 2023) is among the livelier ones in Suntec City Convention Centre, with spruced up models sitting in the limelight for all to see.
Four models were unveiled: the Subaru BRZ STI, along with the Crosstrek, WRX Sedan, and WRX Wagon GT Edition.
Subaru elevates the 2023 Crosstrek Hybrid by introducing the limited GT Edition trim, specially crafted for the e-BOXER 2.0i-S EyeSight Hybrid model. This variant boasts a distinctive GT styling kit, encapsulating a multi-piece bodykit, 18-inch alloy wheels, and a roof spoiler.
The cabin has also been treated to a two-tone shade for its leather upholstery, and there's GT Edition seats with sporty red accents enlivened by contrast white stitching. There's also an embossed GT Edition logo on them to set it apart.
Beyond that, the Crosstrek e-Boxer Hybrid remains the same under the skin: a 2.0-litre horizontally-opposed (Boxer) engine paired to an electric motor is good for a combined power output of 150 PS. As always it has the famed Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system too, and only comes with the Lineartronic CVT.
Safety-wise, the Crosstrek e-Boxer Hybrid comes with Subaru's Eyesight 4.0 suite of driver assists, with Pre-Collision Braking, Autonomous Emergency Steering, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Centering Function, and Lane Departure Prevention among standard features.
Subaru WRX Sedan/Wagon GT Edition
This pair of WRX twins are a bit of a naughty tease by Motor Image; both the WRX Sedan and WRX Wagon GT Edition you see here are prototypes in their current stage and as such, haven't had their prices disclosed just yet, though we're told they will launch in the island state later this year.
Much like the Crosstrek GT Edition above, Subaru also enlisted Masahiro 'Jack' Kobayashi (who has worked on 12 Subaru GT Editions to date) to work his magic on the twins.
Part of his touches come in the form of a more aggressive kit, which revolves around an STI-branded grille and a bodykit, paired with lighweight Volk Racing wheels.
'Performance-tuned chassis refinements' are hinted as well, though they're keeping mum on what they are at this point of time. If anything, we'd wager upgraded suspension to be a given.
Under the hood, both these cars are powered by a 2.4-litre boxer turbo, good for 275 PS and 350 Nm, paired to a Lineartronic CVT.
Subaru BRZ STI
Infusing race-inspired additions into the nimble second-gen BRZ, Subaru introduces the BRZ STI Kit. This distinctive BRZ variant showcases a unique body kit.
The kit comes with a front under spoiler and fender garnish, while along the sides there are strakes by the skirts to direct wind towards the rear wing. The rear diffuser smoothens air below the vehicle, which also helps overall aerodynamics.
Inside the cockpit, leather accents, such as the red-striped multifunction steering wheel and matching door cards exclusive to this model, contribute to a sportier, race-inspired aesthetic.
The pièce de résistance is the swan-neck carbon fibre wing that looks good, and is claimed to improve aerodynamic efficiency as well.
Powering the BRZ is a 2.4-litre naturally-aspirated boxer engine making 237 PS and 250 Nm, and its available with either a 6-speed auto or a 6-speed manual.
