Earlier this year, Subaru announced the development of EyeSight technology for manual transmission cars, with the Subaru BRZ being the first to receive this update. Checks with Subaru dealers revealed that the updated 2024 Subaru BRZ is set to arrive in Malaysia, accompanied by a price increase of up to RM 20k.
Currently, the Subaru BRZ is available in Malaysia at a starting price of RM 249,245 for the 6-speed manual variant and RM 259,245 for the 6-speed automatic version.
The manual version is expected to see a price adjustment of approximately RM 20k with the addition of EyeSight, while the automatic variant, which already includes EyeSight, is expected to experience a price hike of RM 10k. This change will bring both variants to an approximate price point of RM 269k.
EyeSight is Subaru's Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS), utilising a stereo camera configuration. Although it was originally introduced in 2008, it was previously only accessible for automatic transmission Subaru models.
Today's EyeSight system offers autonomous emergency braking (AEB) that can not only detect other vehicles but also pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcycles.
The addition of EyeSight to the 2024 Subaru BRZ equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission builds upon the development work carried out for the automatic transmission variant. It enables features such as pre-collision braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure and sway warnings, lead vehicle start alerts, and rear sonar warnings.
The quest for automotive knowledge began as soon as the earliest memories. Various sources information, even questionable ones, have been explored including video games, television, magazines, or even internet forums. Still stuck in that rabbit hole.
