Acura is developing an electric sports car reminiscent of the NSX built on the company's 0 Series battery electric vehicle (BEV) platform and scheduled for a 2028 release, according to a report by Automotive News.
Quoting Shinji Aoyama, Honda's global executive officer who spoke at the ongoing Montery Car Week, it is said that this "NSX-type vehicle" will utilise the lightweight and thin battery-electric platform introduced at CES 2024, where Honda revealed the 0 Series EVs.
Aoyama explained that Honda aims to make the platform thinner than current EVs, which will contribute to achieving a lower height for the vehicle. Additionally, the slimmer platform allows for a more spacious cabin.

He also hinted that the electric sports car could debut as early as 2027, while a Honda-badged electric sedan based on the 0 Series platform is expected in 2026.
At last year's Monterey Car Week, Acura showcased the production version of the ZDX midsize BEV crossover, which hit the market in May.
During the ZDX introduction, Acura's head designer, Dave Marek, unveiled renderings of what he described as a "future performance all-electric sports model." The sketch, resembling the NSX, features a sporty silhouette, a pointed nose, and sharp lines.
Marek mentioned that his team is already envisioning how Acura's "Precision Crafted Performance" philosophy will translate into the electrified era. "I'm excited about thrilling performance, striking proportions, powerfully sculpted contrasts, and a distinctive signature," Marek said.
