Naza Italia-Maserati has just unveiled the new 2022 Maserati Ghibli Hybrid, one of the most ambitious projects by the Italian trident brand. Despite the hybrid name, it's really a mild-hybrid which means it can't accelerate from standstill on electric power alone.
There are two variants available for the hybrid sports luxury saloon which are:
Ghibli Hybrid – From RM 427,800
Ghibli Hybrid GranSport – From RM 456,800
Both prices exclude local duties and taxes but the Ghibli Hybrid is a bargain considering the petrol-powered Ghibli starts from RM 618,800 for the GranLusso variant.
In terms of styling, it’s hard to differentiate between both the regular Ghibli and the hybrid variant but Maserati has added some subtle touches to the trim. Blue is the common denominator with accents surrounding the trident logo and the side air ducts.
Inside, occupants are greeted with blue stitching throughout the interior and a blue trident embroidered on the seat headrests.
The colour is selected as it is the universal symbol of clean mobility and is chosen to identify all cars with hybrid technology. So, it’s not simply lifted from Toyota’s playbook then.
Powering the Ghibli Hybrid is a combination of a 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with a 48-volt alternator and an electric supercharger called an e-Booster. It’s essentially turbocharged and supercharged, a perfect trade-off between performance, efficiency, and driving pleasure.
As such, the power output for this hybrid bella is 330 PS and 450 Nm. It has a top speed of 255 km/h and lifts off to 100 km/h from rest in 5.7 seconds.
The GranSport trim of the Ghibli Hybrid adds on a Black Piano front grille, 20-inch wheels, and premium full-grain “Pieno Fiore” natural leather which gives it a sportier and premium feel.
Standard on both variants of the Ghibli Hybrid is the Bowers & Wilkins Premium Surround Sound System with 15 speakers and a 1,280 W amplifier for a concert hall sound experience.
Also standard across the range is an ADAS suite which includes ACC with Stop & Go, Lane Keeping Assist, and Highway Assist System which is claimed to be a Level 2 autonomous driving system.
The Ghibli Hybrid is available with a 3-year Standard Warranty coverage with no mileage restriction plus a free maintenance program of 3 years or 60,000 km whichever comes first.
