Audi Q6 e-tron
During the launch of the Audi Q8 e-tron and Audi e-tron GT last year, Erik Winter, who was the Managing Director of PHS Automotive Malaysia (PHSAM), mentioned that the company is currently in the process of bringing in the SQ8 e-tron as well as the Q6 e-tron.
Built on the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) with an 800V architecture, the Q6 e-tron will share its platform with the next-generation Porsche Macan, like how the Audi e-tron GT is related to the Porsche Taycan. The expected arrival of the Q6 e-tron in Malaysia is by the end of this year.

Audi SQ8 e-tron
The Audi SQ8 e-tron is the range-topping variant of the Q8 e-tron model, available in both the standard and Sportback body style. It has three electric motors, providing a maximum boost performance of 503 PS and 973 Nm. The distribution of drive torque between the two rear electric motors and the wheels can be instantaneously adjusted.
Battery capacity and charging capability mirror the Q8 e-tron 55 variants, with a 106 kWh (114 gross kWh) battery that DC charges at up to 170 kW, while AC charging is up to an optional 22 kW.

2024 BMW X2/iX2
The first-ever BMW iX2, an all-electric version of the second-generation (U10) BMW X2. Performance-wise, the iX2 xDrive30 gets a dual-motor setup for all-wheel drive capability and delivers a combined output of 313 PS and 494 Nm.
Equipped with a 64.8 kWh battery (usable), the iX2 xDrive30 has a range of 417 to 449 km in the WLTP cycle. Charging the battery is facilitated with standard 11 kW AC, with the optional 22 kW charging. DC charging is rated at 130 kW.
The BMW iX2 has already appeared on BMW Malaysia’s website, suggesting that plans are underway for its introduction here.

BYD Seal
BYD distributor Sime Darby Beyond Auto previewed the BYD Seal, the second model in BYD’s ‘Ocean’ series of cars after the BYD Dolphin. Since it’s a preview, prices have yet to be announced.
Similar to the BYD Dolphin and Atto 3, the Seal rides on a dedicated battery EV-only e-Platform 3.0. But instead of using Cell-to-Pack (CTP) LFP battery technology, one highlight of the Seal is that it uses Cell-to-Body (CTB) technology that allows the vehicle to better resist structural flex.

Chery Omoda E5
Planned for launch in March 2024, Chery Malaysia is counting down the days towards its first EV model in the country. The fully electric Chery Omoda E5 is powered by a front-mounted electric motor that makes 204 PS/340 Nm. This is juiced up by a 61-kWh lithium-ion phosphate (LFP) battery with a claimed maximum range of 430 km.

Kia EV9
The Kia EV9 is a full-size electric three-row SUV, set to launch in Malaysia later this year. Globally, it’s available in RWD and AWD configurations.
The most powerful variant, the dual-motor AWD has a combined output of 380 PS and 600 Nm but opt for the Power Boost feature and torque is increased to 700 Nm. The standard RWD model has a 76.1 kWh battery, while the Long Range RWD and AWD versions come with a larger 99.8 kWh battery.

2024 MINI Cooper Electric
The 2024 MINI Cooper Electric, in its fifth generation, adopts a new streamlined design philosophy, emphasizing electric powertrains and marking a significant shift in its trajectory.
There are two electric powertrains on offer. The MINI Cooper E features an electric motor with an output of 184 PS and 290 Nm. This is powered by a 40.7 kWh battery, propelling it from 0-100 km/h in 7.3 seconds and a WLTP range of 305 km.
Meanwhile, the MINI Cooper SE takes things up a notch with an electric motor cranking out 218 PS and 330 Nm. It packs a larger 54.2 kWh battery and accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 6.7 seconds. WLTP range is rated at 402 km.

Peugeot E-2008
The Peugeot e-2008 is the battery-electric (BEV) version of the Peugeot 2008 SUV. Having been showcased multiple times in Malaysia, it features a 50 kWh battery and a front-mounted electric motor generating 136 PS and 260 Nm of torque. According to the WLTP cycle, the e-2008 boasts a range of up to 345 km.

Smart #3
Joining the Smart #1 in Smart Malaysia's lineup is the Smart #3. While inheriting the distinctive design elements from the Smart #1, the #3 showcases its own features, including a coupe-SUV silhouette and a larger footprint.
Equipped with a standard 272 PS/343 Nm electric motor (similar to the #1), the Brabus variant boasts a twin-motor all-wheel-drive system, delivering a combined output of 428 PS/543 Nm. All models feature a 66 kWh lithium nickel cobalt manganese (NCM) battery.
Charging is swift, with 150 kW DC fast-charging taking under 30 minutes to reach 80 percent from 10 percent. AC charging, with a maximum of 22 kW, promises a sub-3 hour charging time to go from 10 to 80 percent.

Volvo EX30
The Volvo EX30, the brand's smallest EV SUV, offers two powertrain options globally. The Single Motor Extended Range variant features a lithium nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery, providing a 480 km (WLTP) range.
The dual-motor all-wheel-drive variant boasts 428 PS, a 3.6-second 0-100 km/h time, and supports 153 kW DC fast charging, achieving 10-80 percent charge in just over 25 minutes.

Volkswagen ID.4
Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) showcased the all-electric Volkswagen ID.4 at VW Fest 2022 in Malaysia. The available variant is the Pro Performance, with pricing yet to be disclosed.
Performance-wise, the ID.4 features a rear-mounted motor delivering 204 PS/310 Nm, achieving 0-100 km/h in 8.5 seconds.
With a 77-kWh battery pack, the ID.4 boasts a WLTP cycle range of up to 519 km. Charging options include up to 11 kW AC charging and 125 kW DC fast charging, allowing a 38-minute charge from 5 to 80 percent state of charge (SoC).

These 11 models represent some of the EVs expected to launch in Malaysia in 2024. It's not an exhaustive list, and surprises may come along given the rapid pace of the EV landscape.
