Triple-digit bookings for the Audi e-tron models in Malaysia
Deliveries for Audi e-tron GT will be fulfilled within this year for current bookings
Audi Q6 e-tron coming to Malaysia
At the sidelines of the Audi House of Progress exhibition in Singapore, it was revealed in a Q&A session with the managing directors of PHS Automotive Malaysia (PHSAM), Erik Winter and Kurt Leitner, that they have received “triple-digit” bookings for the fully-electric Audi e-tron range in Malaysia.
“We never disclose numbers upfront but the pre-bookings for the e-tron range, I can tell you it’s a triple-digit number,” said Erik. The e-tron range refers to the Audi e-tron GT and the Audi Q8 e-tron, which have been open for booking since early February.
“We have bookings from customers who didn’t see the car because the cars are not yet in Malaysia, so that’s really promising,” he added.
Regarding customer waiting period, it was highlighted that bookings collected for the Audi Q8 e-tron from today will only be fulfilled from 2024 onwards, based on current production supply. But for the sportier Audi e-tron GT, deliveries can still be committed within this year.
As for the launch of the Audi e-tron range in Malaysia, the company is aiming for a launch in June later this year for the e-tron GT, RS e-tron GT, and Q8 e-tron.
Estimated prices for the Audi Q8 e-tron start from RM 369k to RM 476k. The Audi e-tron GT is estimated to start from RM 559k to RM 643k, while the high performance RS e-tron GT is expected to start from RM749k to RM 769k.
When asked about the Q4 e-tron that is displayed at the exhibition, Erik said, “It’s the entry level EV [for Audi] and of course we would like to have the car in Malaysia, but there’s nothing confirmed so I cannot tell you that it will be [arriving in] 2023, 2024, or 2025.”
However, it was mentioned that more Audi e-tron models are being planned for Malaysia. “Next year and the year after, we are planning to bring in different e-tron models as well. The Q4 e-tron is not confirmed yet, but one of the models confirmed for Malaysia is the Audi Q6 e-tron,” said Erik.
The Audi Q6 e-tron is yet to be revealed, due sometime this year. It’s underpinned by the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) that uses an 800V architecture. Its counterpart will be the next-generation Porsche Macan, like the Audi e-tron GT is to the Porsche Taycan.
“Of course, the car [Q6 e-tron] is not produced yet with the car only being shown as a prototype. We expect that car to arrive in Malaysia by end of 2024.
"By bringing in more e-tron models, we will grow our volume,” Erik noted.
The quest for automotive knowledge began as soon as the earliest memories. Various sources information, even questionable ones, have been explored including video games, television, magazines, or even internet forums. Still stuck in that rabbit hole.
