The Honda Jazz is a model that needs no introduction here in Malaysia. Over its 3 generations, it has earned a solid reputation as a practical, reliable, and well-designed hatchback that meets the diverse needs of countless Malaysian buyers.

Whether you're a young executive or an untroubled retiree, there’s a good chance that the Honda Jazz is a great purchase option, and one that will hold its value even after many years of service. Unfortunately, the Honda Jazz nameplate is no longer available in Malaysia, with the 3rd-generation (GK) Jazz facelift, introduced in 2017, being the last iteration of the model.

Overview

The GK Jazz was first launched here in 2014 with prices ranging from RM 73k to RM 88k across three variants. All variants were powered by a 1.5-litre i-VTEC four-cylinder engine developing 120 PS and 145 Nm, sending power to the front wheels through an ‘Earth Dreams’ CVT automatic transmission.

The facelift was introduced in Malaysia in 2017. Most notably, the Jazz facelift launch saw the return of the Jazz Hybrid variant which packed Honda’s new Sport Hybrid i-DCD hybrid system. The Jazz Hybrid featured a 1.5-litre Atkinson cycle DOHC i-VTEC engine producing 137 PS and 170 Nm, sending power through a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Elsewhere, the Honda Jazz facelift introduced several updates across its models. The entry-level S variant now featured new 15-inch alloys (previously wheel caps), keyless entry, and an upgraded audio system. The mid-tier E model benefitted from features previously only on the V variant, such as touch panel auto air conditioning, a 6.8-inch touchscreen display, and additional side airbags, raising the total to four.

The top-spec V model received part leather seats, cruise control, and steering wheel paddle shifters. It also featured 16-inch alloys, 6 airbags and upgraded interior materials.

The Jazz facelift range was priced from RM 75k for the entry-level S variant all the way to RM 89k for the range-topping V variant. The Jazz Hybrid, meanwhile, slotted just under the V variant at RM 87,500.

Why should I choose a used GK Honda Jazz?

For starters, at current prices ranging from RM 45k (pre-facelift units) to around RM 80k, the GK Jazz offers superb value for money given its blend of reliability, safety, proven powertrain, and amazing practicality.

Thus, it doesn’t matter if you are looking for your first car, a second car, or if you plan on upgrading to your first non-national car. There’s a good chance the GK Jazz will fit you just fine.
