GTI, the three most evocative letters in the hot hatch dictionary. And no other brand encapsulates GTI better than Volkswagen. Hot on the heels of the Mk8 Golf GTI, comes its mini-me, the facelifted Mk6 VW Polo GTI (or, the Mk6.5?). A first peek of things to come? You bet!

VW says the uber-Polo will retain all the characteristics that made it so special in the first place: exceptional driving dynamics in combination with exceptional everyday usability. It is very likely to retain a turbocharged powerplant, paired to a dynamically tuned sports chassis.

This Polo GTI facelift sneak peak was supposed to be in conjunction with VW's traditional GTI weekend meet at Lake Wörthersee (this is a big deal to VW and its fans, just watch the video below). Sadly, Covid-19 has put paid to this gathering for the second year running.
