The Laser Motor group is a Toyota dealer with multiple outlets spread across Petaling Jaya (Seksyen 19 and Petaling Utama), Bangsar, and Seremban.
Those who follow the Toyota Vios Challenge will recognize the dealer’s name plastered on Mark Darwin’s No. 63 car (Super Sporting Class) and Shawn Lee's No.6 car (Sporting Class).
Like many car dealers, Laser Motor’s business has been badly impacted by the ongoing disruption to its business.
All of its showrooms remain closed and its service centres are only seeing minimal business.
However, Laser Motor’s fortunes is still doing considerably better than many other car dealers, many of which risk closure after August.
Despite the poor business condition, the owners of Laser Motor believe that if they are still in a position to do some good, they should.
Since last week, the company’s Petaling Utama and Seremban outlets have setup food banks and distributing aid to families’ whose income have been affected by the pandemic.
Interestingly, Laser Motor says the food bank is paid for not just by the company alone, but also includes personal contributions from Laser Motor’s staff.
Residents living in the Petaling Utama / Seremban vicinity who need aid are advised to check Laser Motor’s Petaling Utama and Seremban outlets respective Facebook pages for announcements on operation hours of their aid distribution.
Considering the bad business outlook, Laser Motor is unsure how long it can sustain its social aid initiative, but the company has said that it will continue to provide aid until August, before deciding on its next step.
