Lexus Malaysia continues to tease the imminent arrival of the handsome all-new 2022 Lexus NX. Bookings have been open for a while and this time around they’ve shown us that it’ll have the largest in-class touchscreen display at a whopping 14-inches.
Angled towards the driver, nobody doubts the legality of that massive screen being a class-leader.

Like the rest of Lexus local line-up, the NX will be a CBU unit from Japan. The second-generation NX will ride on the TNGA-K platform that is also utilised by the Toyota Harrier and RAV4. Prior seat time in the latter two assures us the NX will have some of the best ride and handling as well.
One of the defining physical features of the NX has to be its full-length LED taillights and rightly so Lexus uses the light signature heavily with its promotional material for the SUV.

Powertrain options haven’t been confirmed but are strongly believed to initially comprise the NX 350 powered by the turbocharged 2.4-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine that does 279 PS and 430 Nm with the help of an 8-speed Direct Shift automatic transmission. This model should arrive in Q2 2022.
Down the road in Q3 of 2022, a naturally-aspirated 2.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine will arrive in the NX 250. This mill makes 206 PS and 243 Nm of torque with the same 8-speed Direct Shift automatic transmission hooked up to it. This powertrain combo can be found in the RAV4 as well.
However, pricing isn’t going to be kind to the new NX. Malaysia’s import and excise tax structure doesn’t favour CBU vehicles with large engine capacities. Even the outgoing Lexus NX is priced between RM 306,117 to RM 339,018. Expect the new NX to start closer to RM 350k.
