The 2024 Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) saw the launch of the 2024 Toyota GR Yaris facelift. PT Toyota-Astra Motor offers two variants: a 6-speed manual and an 8-speed automatic, priced at IDR 1.15 billion (around RM 332k) and IDR 1.198 billion (around RM 346k) respectively.
Starting from the powertrain, the engine enhancements increase power and torque by 32 PS and 30 Nm respectively, now rated at 304 PS and 400 Nm. These improvements come from a strengthened valvetrain, new exhaust valve material, increased D-4ST fuel injection pressure, lightweight pistons with wear-resistant rings, and a new intake pressure sensor.
One of the highlights of the facelift is the new 8-speed Gazoo Racing Direct Automatic transmission, developed with input from the TGR World Rally Team.
Body rigidity has been enhanced. The number of bolts fastening the body to the shock absorbers has increased from one to three, the number of spot welding points is up by 13 percent, and structural adhesives have increased by 24 percent, improving body rigidity and handling stability.

The GR Yaris features a new steel mesh lower grille, a separable structure on the lower front bumper for easier repairs, larger side lower grille openings for better cooling, and outlets on the bumper sides to exhaust heat.
The rear has a new opening at the lower edge of the rear garnish to allow air escape, consolidated rear lamps for better visibility, and a customizable rear spoiler with a separate high-mount stop lamp.
Inside, the cockpit has been revamped with a control panel and display tilted 15 degrees toward the driver. The driving position is lowered by 25 mm, the steering wheel position adjusted accordingly, and forward visibility improved by moving the rearview mirror to the top of the windshield and lowering the upper edge of the center cluster by 50 mm.
New features include a racing-inspired 12.3-inch full-color TFT gauge display, an automatic transmission oil temperature display, and a visual warning added to the gear position display in the gauge cluster.
