Bermaz: No CKD Mazda CX-30 for 2021

Although Malaysians can expect the locally-assembled (CKD) Mazda CX-30 to be introduced in the near future, it may not be too soon.

Contrary to AmInvestment Bank's report, checks with Bermaz Auto confirms that there will be no CKD CX-30 for 2021. However, this doesn't completely rule out the model's local assembly.

Plans to locally-assemble the model is still afoot, but the CKD CX-30's introduction is only slated for 2022 or later.

Locally-assembled CX-30

This news comes on the back of AmInvestment Bank's report, published on 11-March 2021, stating that the model will be introduced in the second half of this year.

The same report also estimates that local assembly of the model will reduce its selling price by around RM 15,000, which we have to add, is not confirmed by Bermaz. Currently, the CX-30 is fully-imported (CBU Japan), and prices range as follows:

Mazda CX-30 price in Malaysia
Variant Priced from
2.0G Core (2WD) RM 144,759
2.0G High (2WD) RM 159,109
1.8D High (2WD) RM 167,673
2.0G High (AWD) RM 170,459
On-the-road prices sans insurance, with SST discount

Meanwhile, a seperate report by Public Investment Bank states that production of the SUV is slated to begin in December this year, further indicating that a 2022 launch is more plausible.
