The 2024 BYD Seal has managed to amass over 1,300 bookings in Malaysia in just four days, making it one of the hottest BEV cars to have ever entered the market.

Due to the overwhelming demand for the BEV sedan, official distributor Sime Darby Beyond Auto, has once again announced the extension of its early bird promo campaign until 3-March, 2024. This comes after quickly exhausting the initial 1,100 early bird promo packages.

As such, customers who place a booking for the BYD Seal through the official website or at nationwide showrooms within the promo period will still receive complimentary home chargers and free Gentari or ChargEV charging credits worth RM800. Terms and conditions apply.

Jeffrey Gan, Managing Director for Southeast Asia at SDM, said, “The response from Malaysians clearly demonstrates their readiness to embrace electric vehicles (EVs) from BYD, which continues to make waves here and in other parts of the region. This achievement also marks another milestone in the robust evolution of the country’s EV market.”

To recap, the BYD Seal comes fully imported (CBU) from China and is offered in two variants at the following prices:

• Premium RWD - RM 179,800 (RM 180,430 OTR without insurance)
• Performance AWD - RM 199,800 (RM 200,430 OTR without insurance)

The Premium RWD variant features an 82.5 kWh LFP Blade battery powering a 313 PS/360 Nm rear-mounted motor. The Premium RWD variant offers a driving range of up to 570 km (WLTP). 

The range-topping Performance AWD variant features the same battery but adds a second motor for all-wheel-drive capability. This configuration delivers an output of 530 PS/670 Nm and a range of up to 520 km (WLTP).

Additionally, the BYD Seal comes equipped with a warranty package that includes a 6-year/150,000 km vehicle warranty, an 8-year/160,000 km battery warranty, and an 8-year/150,000 km drive unit warranty.

Alongside, the BYD Seal is offered with Standard and Plus Service packages, tailored to suit individual needs. Service packages are available for durations of 3-, 6-,8 years to provide hassle free ownership. 

The BYD Seal’s main rival in the BEV segment is the Tesla Model 3, with prices starting at RM 189,000 for the Standard Range variant and RM 218,000 for the Long Range model.
