VinFast announced that it will be officially launching in Thailand at the 45th Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS 2024) which will be held from 27 March to 7 April.
The Vietnamese automaker will be showcasing its complete range of electric vehicles (EVs) including:
Aside from the VF 3 mini-SUV and the VF Wild pick-up concept, the rest of the models on display will be right-hand drive (RHD) which are tailored for the Thai market. The Kingdom will be the second RHD market VinFast plans to enter after Indonesia.
Ms. Vu Dang Yen Hang, CEO of VinFast Thailand, shared, "The launch of our brand in Thailand marks a major milestone in VinFast's global expansion strategy, strengthening our presence in the most vibrant automotive hub in Southeast Asia. By introducing our complete range of electric vehicles, VinFast is leading the charge in Thailand's green transportation revolution, contributing to a more sustainable future for everyone.”
Thailand is the leading EV market in ASEAN with rapidly growing demand driven by a series of government-supported policies. Hence, VinFast aims to expand quickly in the Thai market and solidify its position as a pioneer in the development of green and sustainable mobility globally.
VinFast created its Thai social media channels earlier this year while its Thai website only listed the VF 5 which serves as the Vietnamese carmaker’s entry model. VinFast was founded 6 years ago but dramatically shifted to an all-EV line-up at the end of 2022.
Since that all-EV announcement, VinFast has been present in the United States, Canada, France, and Germany. It also recently announced its entry to Africa following an agreement exchange with a Ghanaian distributor.
After announcements for Indonesia and Thailand, will Malaysia be the next in line? Our country was mentioned during VinFast’s Indo debut as one of three RHD markets in ASEAN that could be import destinations for models produced at its planned Bekasi operations.
