It turns out doing 1,000 km in one week wasn’t so hard after all. Having done a good mix of city and slight highway driving, we’ve successfully run-in the Perodua Ativa last week and we have sent it in for a 1,000 km inspection last Friday. So, we booked our appointment at Perodua Service Sungai Penchala for 10 am. Everything went according to schedule and Cik Tiva was hoisted as soon as we finished talking with the service consultant. What does the 1,000 km inspection entail? Not much actually.

You’ve heard it time and again at every “balik kampung” festive season. Remember to check your car engine components’ condition, change your engine oil, make sure your tyres are in tip top condition before you start your journey… No doubt, these steps are important to follow, not only are you travelling further than your daily route causing more stress to the engine, there is also a possibility that you will get trapped in a 9-hour long traffic jam on the North-South Highway (true story this). So, we’ve bought a Perodua Ativa for a long-term review. Having booked the car in January 2021 (way before the virtual launch), we’re one of the early customers to receive the car. All along, we've been pestering the showroom to expedite the delivery, and we're very happy that it's finally here. What did we order? We’ve opted for the AV variant with a two-tone paint job, featuring the “Pearl Delima Red” body colour and black roof. No “Gear Up” kit here, since we prefer to keep things simple and

Many people have different theories as to when they should service their cars. Some swears by the owner’s manual, others follow their gut feel. The latter, which we strongly advise against. First, let’s break down the science. A ‘regular service’ includes an engine oil change along with an inspection of all relevant components. There are many factors that affect the interval, or frequency, of your oil change process. Traditionally, it is recommended to change your oil every 5,000 km when using m

When it comes to shopping for a car, terms like reconditioned cars and certified pre-owned (CPO) cars get tossed around a fair bit. On paper, both CPO and reconditioned (recond) cars are very similar – both are cheaper than a new car, allowing the buyer to save some money. But that’s where the similarities end, as they are world’s apart once you look closer. Recond cars – good on paper, but buyers beware While it may seem tempting to save RM 40k to RM 50k on a recond car versus a brand-new car,

A knight in shining armor is a man who has never had his metal truly tested. Likewise, a pristine looking car is a car that hasn’t been driven much. While the former may be an inspirational phrase, the latter is a sign of a good used car. When shopping for a used car, it is normal to see dings, scratches, or the occasional putty. Small damages are good for bargaining, but a used car with major damage is much better avoided. Whether or not to go on with the purchase is entirely up to you. This en
