If ever anything can go wrong during a car wash, it is when the carwash workers abandoned the car halfway through the wash. This Perodua Axia owner almost had to remove the suds on her own when MBSA officers decided to help her out. According to the owner’s Tweet, the carwash workers abandoned their posts when officers of the Shah Alam Municipal Council (MBSA) arrived to raid the carwash. All the workers were foreigners and would have been arrested if they were caught. Unfortunately for the MBSA

Last week, this column discussed the challenges that lie ahead in exporting the Proton X70 to Indonesia. While the Proton X70 was able to race to the top of the sales chart almost as soon as it was launched, it will not enjoy such luxury in Indonesia. As an imported model, the Indonesian government will certainly not grant Proton any tax incentives the way the Malaysian government does. Without a significant price advantage, it’s will have a harder time going up against the Honda CR-V. To win ov

With its launch set to happen some time next month, the upcoming B-segment Perodua D55L has a lot to live up to. Thus far, the Perodua D55L’s DNGA platform – a derivative of Toyota’s TNGA platform, but for budget compact cars – is all but confirmed. Ditto for the D55L’s turbocharged 1-litre turbocharged engine, mated to a CVT-type automatic. According to a recent post by Chinese portal Automachi, these are the purported specifications of the upcoming Perodua D55L. The rumoured ASA 3.0 ADAS is sa

Over the weekend, Formula E fans were shocked by the massive shunt that involved Mahindra driver Alex Lynn at the Diriyah E-Prix. The crash has been regarded as the biggest crash in the series’ history so far but Lynn miraculously walked away with no significant injuries. This has once again shined the light on the importance of the ugly FIA mandated halo and the aerospace technology applied to the car. If you’re a follower of the Formula 1 series, you would remember the horrifying moment when M

Getting your car cleaned is very satisfying. Most of us just pay to get them cleaned while some of us prefer to do the job ourselves. Either way, the shiny exterior and spotless interior never fail to make our cars feel fresh. It’s the similar feeling you get after getting a haircut. One area that rarely gets attention at a car wash is the engine bay. Most of us never pop the hood unless our car breaks down or we need to fill up the wiper fluid. If left attended for a long time, the engine bay c

Facebook: Jeff Ooi The W140 S-Class is often known as the last Mercedes to be "over-engineered", a Mercedes trait that was costing the company in product delays and over budgeting. According to Motor Trend, this action reportedly caused project cost overruns and resulted in the departure of Wolfgang Peter, Daimler-Benz's chief engineer. The vehicle is believed to ha

This is the Ineos Grenadier, which is, in the words of its creator, "a capable, durable and reliable 4x4 designed and built to handle the world’s harshest environments". To those unfamiliar with INEOS, you probably would've seen this name plastered on Mercedes-AMG's F1 challengers. Essentially, Ineos is one of the biggest petrochemical companies in the world, so why did it create an automotive division? Ineos is led by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, one of Britain's richest individuals. Sir Jim is a big fan

Now this is interesting, as a recent report from Automachi claims that the upcoming Perodua D55L will get a model name that starts with an “A”. Seeing that Perodua has yet to register any new names recently, we believe that the company may potentially pick a name that was registered a few years ago, including names such as Atriva, Axeda, and Ativa. Out of those three names, only the Ativa and Axeda names remain registered, as Perodua has since abandoned the Atriva name. In fact, a recent post fr

Touring cars have always featured basically run-of-the-mill sedans that were bought by Joe Average. Some would go on to be iconic legends in the German DTM, the Japanese JTCC, or even the Australian V8 Supercars. But none achieve the ethos of full legendary transformation than the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC). Plenty of regular cars turned into icons thanks to the BTCC. Who could forget icons such as the Volvo 850 Wagon with blue and white Securicor livery or the simple red and white

Back in the early 90s, if you wanted to buy a performance car, you’d most probably choose the manual transmission option. The equivalent automatic option was probably heavier, slower-reacting, and had higher fuel consumption. My own uncle once told me back then, “In a sprint, my manual car would always be faster and more accelerative versus an automatic.” Those words stuck with me. Fast forward to today, and self-shifting transmissions have gotten so good, no human input could possibly match its

I don’t think we need it.” She also did not comment on Perodua’s intention to be involved in the third national car project as MAA does not have details of the plan. Datuk Aishah also said that ev

When it comes to shopping for a car, terms like reconditioned cars and certified pre-owned (CPO) cars get tossed around a fair bit. On paper, both CPO and reconditioned (recond) cars are very similar – both are cheaper than a new car, allowing the buyer to save some money. But that’s where the similarities end, as they are world’s apart once you look closer. Recond cars – good on paper, but buyers beware While it may seem tempting to save RM 40k to RM 50k on a recond car versus a brand-new car,

The Proton Ertiga is no more as Proton has dropped the model from its line-up.
