Kuala Lumpur folks whose cars were damaged during the flash flood on Monday have expressed their frustration in a video by The Star.
One road user, Masliana Musa, told reporters that when she arrived at the open-air parking lot where she parked her car, water levels have already reached the roof of the cars.
Another road user, Halim Osman, was only in the area for a quick meeting. However, he was caught in the flood and his Proton X70 suffered massive damage due to the flood.
Halim also noted that water levels rose fairly quickly so there was nothing that he could do to save his car.
He further added his frustration over the government’s lack of concern over a matter that KL-Lites have been suffering for decades.
According to the report, car owners in the area had had to abandon their vehicles on Monday as water levels were too high for tow trucks to come in and tow their vehicles away.
On Monday (7-March-2022), Klang Valley recorded rainfall that exceeded the average monthly rainfall record within two hours. The heavy rain had overwhelmed the existing drainage system causing several areas to experience flash floods.
However, the relentless rainfall did not stop as it once again rained on Tuesday causing yet another round of flash floods in Kuala Lumpur.
There isnโt a time in memory that doesnโt involve staring at cars. After discovering the excitement of watching Schumacher vs Hakkinen, Formula 1 became a major part of life. The love for cars and F1 ultimately led to a job with CAR Magazine. The untimely death of the magazine meant a hiatus from cars at lifestyle womenโs magazine Marie Claire before another opportunity came knocking again.
