As much clout as the Toyota GR Supra has been given by some fans, it is a brilliant modern sports car. We think it’s more improved than the BMW Z4 it was based on to the point it drives better than its German twin.

Following a performance upgrade that was introduced in July 2020, UMW Toyota Motor has given the sports car another update. This time it’s the addition of Apple CarPlay albeit wired. Sorry Android users, apparently the Supra only accepts iOS connectivity for now. Even overseas markets do not feature Android Auto support.

The rest of the infotainment remains the same – an 8.8-inch touchscreen display with a touchpad remote, built-in navigation, USB, and Bluetooth. For your listening pleasure, the GR Supra comes with a 12-speaker JBL HiFi Surround Sound System.

Performance also remains unchanged with the turbocharged BMW B58 inline-six engine delivering 388 PS and 500 Nm. This engine is paired with a ZF 8-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the rear wheels. 0-100 km/h is done in 4.1 seconds.

Aside from the modern connectivity features, the GR Supra also comes with ADAS including Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Departure Alert (LDA), and Adaptive Cruise Control (All-Speed).

The GR Supra is priced from RM 589,987 inclusive of 50% sales tax (SST) exemption until 31-December 2021 and sans insurance. Bookings are available from selected authorized Toyota GR Garage showrooms nationwide, of which there are only 5 nationwide.
