The King returns. Well, Indonesia’s king of the road, that is, with the Toyota Avanza becoming the country’s best-selling car of the first half of 2023 (H1) according to Gaikindo’s sales data.
30,221 units of the Avanza were sold between January and June 2023 but it’s a very close fight between the top 3 best-sellers in the archipelago. June’s best-seller, the Daihatsu Sigra is placed first runner-up overall with 30,166 units while in third is the Honda Brio with 30,108 units.
The Brio was Indonesia’s best-selling car in 2022 and also broke the Avanza’s 13-year run in 2020. The Avanza managed to snatch back the crown in 2021 which was also the year the current DNGA platform generation was introduced.
