Perhaps one of the more curious models we’ve came across is the GAC Trumpchi GS3 Power. It took the team several hours trying to decipher the model when the spyshot came in.
Now, we received a video of the said GS3 Power, this time giving us a glance at the SUV’s interior.
While the 7-second-long video isn’t long by any means, it does reveal that at least one variant will receive an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, as shown above.
Keep in mind that the vehicle in question is the lower spec variant, identifiable by its bee-sting antenna and lack of roof rails. It remains to be seen if upper variants will get the same infotainment system, or a larger 10.25-inch unit.
To recap, the GAC GS3 Power is a B-segment SUV, much like the Honda HR-V, Hyundai Kona, and Proton X50. It gets the choice of two 1.5-litre engines: one three-cylinder unit that does 163 PS and 235 Nm and another four-cylinder unit that does 168 PS and 265 Nm.
The lower output engine is paired to a 6-speed manual while the more powerful unit is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.
Back in December, Tan Chong Motor Holdings Berhad (TCMH) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) last month with GAC Motor to evaluate the possibility of TCMH distributing GAC vehicles in Malaysia and Vietnam.
Despite signing an MoU, it's hard to say that the GS3 Power will be launched in Malaysia, seeing that distributorship agreements have yet to be signed, and there is so far no company that has been setup to represent the GAC marque in Malaysia.
