The sleek D-segment sedan that was spotted undisguised in Penang by WapCar.my's reader, Edward Chew, will join the all-new 2021Peugeot 2008 that was spied late last December.
Interestingly, it seems that Malaysia will be the first country to get this sedan in the ASEAN region - we checked regional, official Peugeot, and news websites to find no mention of the model elsewhere so far.
The second-generation 508 first broke cover in Europe back in 2018. Sitting on the PSA EMP2 platform, it remains to be seen which engine the Malaysian-specs car will have, but we expect the 1.6-litre, turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 162 PS/250 Nm to be one of the main options here, paired to a 8-speed automatic transmission.
To recap, the Naza Automotive Manufacturing plant in Gurun is now under PSA Group's control. The plant currently makes the Peugeot 3008 and Peugeot 5008, both of which are exported to Thailand.
