In the photo, we see the rear quarter of the refreshed Mother Trucker and it appears that there are at least two locked up behind a gate. According to the post uploaded by Raymond Lok Twe, the photo was taken at the Semenyih Hi-Tech Industrial Park.
Upon closer inspection, this is not the top-of-the-line Pro-4X 4WD variant that is available in Thailand, but rather it could be the VL 4WD based on the decal sticker on the rear quarter panel.
According to Nissan Thailand’s website, the Navara VL 4WD is powered by the same 2.3-litre twin-turbo diesel engine (190 PS/450 Nm) as the Pro-4X. This enhanced diesel engine is paired with a 7-speed automatic transmission.
Yet, it remains uncertain whether this engine will be carried over into the Malaysian-spec Navara, replacing the 2.5-litre units which share the same power output (190 PS/450 Nm).
The Thai-spec Navara is very well-equipped in the VL 4WD variant. Some features include:
In keeping up to date with its more youthful rivals like the refreshed Toyota Hilux, the Thai-spec Nissan Navara VL 4WD is also equipped with the Nissan Intelligent Mobility ADAS suite which includes:
Intelligent Around View Monitor (IAVM) with Off-Road Monitor
Intelligent Forward Collision Warning (IFCW)
Intelligent Emergency Braking (IEB)
Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
Intelligent Lane Intervention (ILI)
Blind Spot Warning (BSW)
Intelligent Blind Spot Intervention (IBSI)
High Beam Assist (HBA)
Now, it is uncertain whether the Malaysian unit of the refreshed 2021 Navara will get all of these features. Still, the updated Navara is one of the most hotly anticipated pick-up trucks to arrive in 2021 along with the updated Ford Ranger and the all-new Mazda BT-50.
