National carmaker Proton has built its five-millionth car, a blue Proton X90 Flagship. Coming 41 years after the brand's founding, the vehicle was unveiled with the 50th anniversary of the start of Malaysia-China diplomatic relations, an event that was attended by Geely's CEO, Dr. Li Shufu.
Along with this milestone, Proton has also sold over 217,000 units of its X-series of SUVs (X50, X70, X90), both in the local and export markets.
Meanwhile, sales of the Proton Saga have surpassed 2 million units, making it the nation's best-selling car ever.

Proton's tie-up with the Geely Group began in 2017, and has seen the launch of four co-developed cars since then.
