UMW Toyota Motor has officially launched the 2025 Toyota Corolla GR Sport facelift, priced from RM 149,800, promising enhanced comfort and driving capabilities to go with its improved aesthetics. Like before, it is imported (CBU) from Thailand.

The facelifted Corolla GR Sport showcases a bold new look, featuring a restyled front end with a full-width lower grille, smoked LED taillights, and recoloured 18-inch wheels. Adding to its appeal, two-tone colourways are now available, providing a more striking visual presence.

Stepping inside, the GR Sport now comes with red seat belts, a GR-badged steering wheel, and Smoked Silver door handles. The eight-way power-adjustable front seats now come with added lumbar support too.

Exclusive to the GR Sport are faux leather and suede upholstery, detailed with red stitching and GR-embossed headrests, offering a premium yet athletic vibe.

Handling has been further refined with retuned electric power steering, GR-specific springs, dampers, and anti-roll bars; par for the course of a GR Sport tuned car.

The 2025 facelift builds on the comprehensive updates introduced in 2024, which included:

• 12.3-inch fully digital instrument panel (exclusive to 1.8G and GR Sport)
• Honeycomb grille front bumper
• Keyless entry on the front passenger door
• Type C USB ports
• Clip-on wireless charging pad to secure smartphones
• Improved seat design for better comfort
• Reduced engine intake noise
• New graphics for the infotainment system (screen size unchanged at 9 inches)

Notably, the GR Sport variant uses a space saver spare wheel, while the regular 1.8E and 1.8G variants, equipped with smaller 16- or 17-inch wheels, include a full-size spare wheel.

Mechanically, the Corolla GR Sport retains the tried-and-tested 1.8-litre naturally aspirated 2ZR-FE Dual VVT-i engine, producing 139 PS and 172 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels via a CVT-type automatic transmission (with 10-speed virtual ratio).

Suspension components remain unchanged, with the local market model continuing to use MacPherson struts in the front and a Double Wishbone setup at the rear. This differs from other markets that have transitioned to a torsion beam rear suspension.

The Corolla GR Sport offering 7 airbags, a Blind Spot Monitor, and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA). Additionally, the Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) suite is standard, including:

• Pre-Collision System (PCS)
• All-speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC)
• Steering Assist and Lane Trace Assist with Lane Departure Alert (LDA)
• Automatic High Beam (AHB)

With its introduction, it marks a trio of launches for UMW Toyota Motor today - the other two are the facelifted duo of the GR Yaris and GR Corolla.
