Launched last month, the Volvo XC40 Recharge Pure Electric (EV)’s price has been announced by Volvo Car Malaysia at RM 262,460, on-the-road without insurance, inclusive of SST discount, valid until 30-June 2022.

This makes the Volvo XC40 Recharge EV around RM 20k more expensive than the PHEV XC40 Recharge, which is priced at RM 242,055.

As with all battery EVs (BEV) currently on sale in Malaysia, import and excise duties as well as road tax have been waived - valid until 31-December 2023.

The Volvo XC40 Recharge EV is locally-assembled (CKD) in the Shah Alam plant, the first EV to be assembled in Malaysia.

The Volvo XC40 Recharge EV has a total power output of 408 PS and total torque of 660 Nm from the dual motors that propels all four wheels (AWD). 0-100 km/h sprint time is rated at 4.9 seconds while top speed is capped at 180 km/h as with all new Volvos.

Battery capacity is rated at 78 kWh, providing a 418 km range on a WLTP cycle. As for charging via the CCS (Combine Charging System) Combo 2 connector, the Volvo XC40 Recharge EV can take up to 11 kW in AC charging (0-100% in 8 hours), and supports up to 150 kW DC fast charging (0-80% in 40 minutes).

The Volvo XC40 Recharge EV is available for viewing at all authorised Volvo dealers in Malaysia. Deliveries of the XC40 Recharge Pure Electric will start from the end of April 2022 onwards, for all locations throughout Malaysia.

At RM 262,460, Volvo Car Malaysia calls it a hassle-free price point which includes:
