MF Ghost is a sequel to the critically acclaimed Initial D series and the highly anticipated anime has finally been given an official premiere date. So, get that Eurobeat playlist ready because it’ll premiere on 1 October 2023.
Both series’ centre around street racing but MF Ghost will take place in an era where self-driving electric cars are the mainstay.
It follows the life of protagonist Kanata Livington (not a typo), a half Japanese, half British kid that’s the protégé of Takumi Fujiwara. He’s learning his craft at the Royal Donington Racing School in the United Kingdom and naturally drives the spiritual successor to Takumi’s Toyota AE86; the GT86. Not only that, he’s also a former Formula 4 world champion.

That’s not the only direct link to Initial D. The MFG series itself was founded by Ryosuke Takahashi.
Seeing that the streets are mostly filled with autonomous cars, MF Ghost takes a more professional approach as a race series known as MFG remains one of the last safe havens of human-driven cars.

The series’ opening theme song will be Jungle Fire, likely to become a mainstay on your driving playlist. Yu Serizawa will perform the song that features Motsu while Himiki Akaneya will be singing the ending theme song.
Expect it to stream on Medialink in South and Southeast Asia.
“Better late than never.” Some despise it, others begrudgingly agree with it but he swears by it… much to the chagrin of everyone around him. That unfortunately stems from all of his project cars not running most of the time, which in turn is testament to his questionable decision-making skills in life. A culmination of many wrongs fortunately making a right; much like his project cars on the rare occasions they run, he’s still trying to figure out if another project car is the way to go.
