Porsche has introduced their new Porsche Classic Communication Management (PCCM) infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto that can be retrofitted onto classic Porsche 911 and Boxster models.
In-car connectivity sounds like a fancy buzzword but in fact, it is a crucial component in car ownership experience. This is why every car manufacturer from Porsche to Geely are tirelessly creating a more seamless and intuitive infotainment system.
To date, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto remain to be one of the best in-car connectivity solutions out there. It transforms your infotainment screen to your smartphone that is optimised for driving. Can’t get any more seamless than that.
There are two versions of the Porsche system – PCCM and PCCM Plus. The former is a 3.5-inch display screen with CarPlay (no Android Auto) that fits into a 1-DIN slot while the latter is a 7-inch display screen with both CarPlay and Android Auto.
The PCCM is compatible with all 911s up to the 993 models while the PCCM Plus is currently offered for 996 and 986 Boxster. Both systems come with physical buttons that match the cabin design of these classic Porsches.
The PCM is priced at € 1,439.89 (RM 6,750) and € 1,606.51 (RM 7,530) for the PCCM Plus. Yikes.
