![Physical driving licence may come back in 2025, but you might have to pay for it though 01]()
The Ministry of Transport may reintroduce the printing of physical driving licences with a fee starting next year, according to Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook via a report on The Edge.
During a Dewan Rakyat oral Q&A session on Wednesday, Loke explained that this proposal aligns with the ministry’s push toward digitalisation.
"Next year we will announce an initiative for anyone who wishes to print their licence physically and they may need to pay for the printing," he said in response to Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh.

“We will announce an option for individuals who still prefer a physical license, but they may need to cover the printing cost of the card,” Loke stated.
He did not, however, disclose the specific fee that would be charged for printing a physical license.
The government launched digital driving licenses and road tax documents last year via the MyJPJ app. Since its rollout two years ago, MyJPJ has facilitated over one million road tax and license renewal transactions.
As of the end of October this year, MyJPJ has generated nearly RM 121 million in revenue, according to Loke.
“The app has greatly enhanced efficiency for both the public and the department while reducing printing costs,” he added.
