![Petronas' Gentari signs MoU with Korea's SK Group for hydrogen, renewable energy, EV charging 01]()
SK Group (SK) is partnering with Gentari Sdn. Bhd. (Gentari), a subsidiary of Petronas, to explore their partnership in renewable energy, hydrogen and green mobility as part of efforts to support its green energy transition.
Its three companies – SK Materials Inc., SK Ecoplant and SK Signet recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for comprehensive cooperation in the clean energy sector. All three companies engage in advanced materials production, construction and recycling, and EV charging. This would be a good stepping stone as Gentari provides clean energy solutions, focusing on lower carbon solutions through renewables and hydrogen.
President of SK Materials Inc., Lee Yong-wook, stated this cooperation in clean green business opportunities is a significant step forward by both companies to jointly respond to the climate crisis and will work together to strike the right balance for the technologies and capabilities and cooperate closely to secure green technology for the future.

SK and Gentari agreed to use the MOU as a first step to identify joint project opportunities in the areas of hydrogen, fuel cells and EV charging, and explore other ways to expand their partnership, according to SK. SK hopes this will create synergy by leveraging its technologies and capabilities in hydrogen and EV charging systems.

“Collaborating and innovating with partners such as SK Group helps Gentari explore emerging energy technologies, grow faster to meet existing demands, and unlock greater value,” he added.
This latest partnership came after SK and Petronas said in April, they would cooperate together to explore new opportunities in carbon capture and storage business.
According to a source, SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won has pledged to run South Korea’s second largest conglomerate to reduce 200 million tons of carbons emissions, equivalent to 1% of the global carbon emissions reduction target, which was set by the International Energy Agency, by 2030.
