It has been revealed that Perodua Suppliers Association (P2SA) and Perodua will be working together to draw up standard operating procedures (SOP) for the automotive industry. P2SA also claims that the extended Movement Control Order (MCO) to 18 February 2021 will help protect the industry until vaccination begins.
P2SA president Musa Zahidin Ahmad Zaidee told Bernama that the association takes the safety of all their members seriously and making sure that all its employees are strictly adhering to the SOP.

“Most of our members are located in Selangor but by following the standard operating procedures (SOPs) laid out by the government and by effectively communicating between our members and our original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), we believe we will be able to perform better this year,” said Musa Zahidin.
“Our main objective is to keep everyone safe and, at the same time, protect our livelihood. The only way to achieve that is to work with the government to lower the number of COVID-19 cases – especially in industrialised areas,” he added.
Musa Zahidin also revealed that P2SA and Perodua are currently working together to draw up a set of SOPs for the automotive ecosystem as a whole.
The SOPs will encompass safety procedures of not only at the workplace but the hostel situation for its staff. They will also look into providing rotating Covid-19 tests for all its employees among others.
Other than that, Musa Zahidin is hopeful that the industry will be well on its way to recovery in 2021 as Perodua recently announced its commitment to purchase RM 6.5 billion worth of local components. This is RM 500 million more than in 2020.
