Mulled for Malaysia, Geely confirms trial production of RHD Zeekr cars has started, APAC region debut by Q3 2024

Premium battery electric vehicle (BEV) maker, Zeekr, will commence sales in right-hand drive (RHD) Asia Pacific markets beginning Q3 2024, confirmed the Vice President of Zeekr Technology, Zhao Chunlin at the ongoing Beijing International Auto Show.
Zhao said that this is part of the greater plans to reach 50 countries, and Malaysia is mulled to be among the markets in the list that also includes New Zealand, Australia, and Thailand.

The company has also confirmed that the first RHD models will be the Zeekr X SUV and Zeekr 009 MPV; both of these cars have been for booking in Thailand since late March 2024.
Following this, Zhao said that pilot production of RHD Zeekr cars are currently in progress.
Think of the X as a Smart #1 in a different suit – they're both roughly around the same size and share the same powertrains, good for performance figures ranging from 272 PS/343 Nm to 428 PS/543 Nm. Some variants offer a CLTC-rated range of 560 km.
Zeekr 009
Meanwhile, the 009 is a super-large MPV. An all-electric answer to the Alphard, the 009 makes 544 PS and 686 Nm, and has a CLTC-rated range of 702 km.
