At the launch of the trio of AMG models at the Mercedes-Benz World event, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Malaysia Amanda Zhang said that the company aims to introduce new models soon, including plug-in hybrids (PHEVs), joining the ranks of the C350e, S580e, and the AMG E Performance models.
While specific details remain under wraps, one of the models expected soon is the W214 E-Class, potentially the next model in this electrified lineup. The E300e, known in Thailand as the E350e, has been available since early this year.
It features a 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine producing 204 PS and 350 Nm, paired with a 129 PS and 440 Nm electric motor, integrated into a 9-speed automatic transmission. This combination delivers a total system output of 313 PS and 550 Nm. The 25.4 kWh battery offers an electric-only range of up to 115 km per charge on a WLTP cycle.

Another candidate for the expanded lineup is the GLC 350e, which is also introduced in Thailand. Like the W206 C350e, the GLC 350e has a 2.0-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that makes 204 PS/320 Nm on its own. An electric motor boosts total output to 313 PS/550 Nm, which is sent to the rear wheels via a 9-speed automatic transmission.
Unlike the W206 C350e, the GLC 350e gets a bigger 31.2 kWh battery that gives a WLTP rated range of 120 km of pure electric driving. It accepts DC fast charging (via CCS Combo 2 connector) at a maximum rate of 60 kW, while AC charging is rated at 11 kW.

Previously, then-CEO Sagree Sardien mentioned that there were no immediate plans to introduce a plug-in hybrid variant and that they would only offer the GLC 300 4Matic. However, if there is significant demand for PHEVs, the company might reconsider, continuing with their broader electrification strategy. With the new CEO steering the ship, the decision to offer PHEV variant could very well have been looked into.

The quest for automotive knowledge began as soon as the earliest memories. Various sources information, even questionable ones, have been explored including video games, television, magazines, or even internet forums. Still stuck in that rabbit hole.
