Here's your chance to score a Toyota GR Yaris for RM 100k lesser than usual, and it's not a wrecked one too

When the Toyota GR Yaris first blew into Malaysia, it commanded a hefty RM 300k price tag. Still, all 127 units were quickly snapped up, and short of putting in a special order for brand new one, your next best bet is getting a reconditioned car.
Plenty of these recond units are going for prices close to new, but there still are choice picks for less than RM 200k. That's the GR Yaris 1.5 RS, and this particular one is priced from RM 199,800
The RS comes with a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated three-cylinder mill (Dynamic Force M15A-FKS) that makes 120 PS and 145 Nm – almost 2x down on power from the turbocharged G16E-GTS' 261 PS/360 Nm – a front-wheel drive drivetrain, and a Direct Shift CVT-type automatic transmission with 10-virtual ratios.
Aside from the spec sheet that won't make a Toyota Vios jealous, at least there's small, nice city-car qualities to it. There's an electric parking brake (EPB), the seats are less intense than the semi-buckets of the full-fat GR Yaris, and there's Toyota Safety Sense active safety (ADAS) too.
These aside, the rest of the package is just like the...uh, real GR Yaris, including the suspension (double wishbone at the back, instead of a torsion beam), and aluminium doors plus carbon-fibre reinforced plastic roof. It also looks about 98% the same too, save for the wheels and smaller brakes.
But hey, this will have its appeal. Attractive price aside, its 1,130 kg weight means it's 150 kg lighter than its more powerful stablemate, so that can be a small advantage depending on situations. For those fortunate enough, it's perhaps a good starter car to kick start their racing ambitions.
