Geely has become the first Asian automaker to join IATF, a global automotive quality standards organization.
The International Automotive Task Force (IATF) is a group of automotive manufacturers which aims at providing improved quality products to automotive customers worldwide.
With its admission, Geely will now participate in the formation and improvement of international quality standards with other global automotive groups to promote the sustainable development of the world’s automotive industry.
Dr. Howard Xu, senior quality director of Geely Auto Group has been nominated as the voting representative in the IATF.
Geely’s admission into the IATF demonstrated the brand’s commitment towards quality management. Alongside European and American manufacturers, Geely will work together to improve and revise IATF quality standards, propose future standards, and represent the Asian voice in the organization.
Members of the IATF include national automobile associations from the US (AIAG), Italy (ANFIA), France (FIEV), UK (SMMT) and Germany (VDA) as well as major global automotive groups such as BMW, Daimler, Ford, GM, Renault, Stellantis, and Volkswagen.
The IATF sets standards such as the 16949:2016 Quality Management Standards for Automobile Production and Related Parts - a globally recognized automotive industry standard.
Meeting the IATF 16949:2016 standard is the most basic requirement for a global automaker and parts supplier.
Geely, the leading automaker in China, will now be involved in the formulation of international quality standards which support the high-quality development of the automotive industry through technological innovation and sustainable development.
