Remember that bold-looking Geely Boyue X? Well, it looks like Geely isn’t stopping at just the Boyue, as these patent images seemingly portray the Geely Binyue (sold here as the Proton X50) with the same X-inspired design.
In China, the Geely Boyue X supersedes the Geely Boyue Pro as the range-topping variant. Could this Binyue be the new top-of-the-line variant?
These photos, courtesy of Vanhoe Rage’s Facebook page, showcases the new Binyue (could it be called Binyue X?) in all of its glory.
Starting with the front-end, the upcoming Binyue X carries the same X-inspired fascia, albeit with a new honeycomb design. Look closer and you’ll also notice that the purported Binyue X also gets a pair of redesigned headlights.
The redesign exercise continues to the rear-end of this Binyue X. The tail lights are now slimmer than before, and remain connected via a trim piece. But that’s not all – the tailgate is also new and Geely has repositioned the number plate to a slightly lower position. Also new are the position of the reflectors, which are now housed at the edges of the bumper.
Images of the interior were not made known, so it remains to be seen if Geely has refreshed the Binyue’s interior here. That said, judging from the recent Boyue X and its blue-and-white-themed interior, we reckon there’s a good possibility that Geely will give the Binyue X a similar nip-and-tuck.
As a refresher, the Geely Binyue received its mid-life facelift a couple of months ago, giving the B-segment SUV a raft of improvements, including an enhanced ADAS suite, a new 360-degree DVR, as well as a new infotainment system. Other upgrades include launch control, an additional ‘Track’ driving mode, and an electronically-adjustable exhaust system.
