WTC Automotif (M) Sdn Bhd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Warisan TC Holdings Berhad (a Tan Chong Group company), has inked a distribution and service agreement with GAC Aion New Energy Automobile Company Limited to sell, distribute, and service GAC Aion’s electric vehicles (EVs), plus spare parts in Malaysia.
The agreement will provide both parties with opportunity to cooperate with each other and study potential business opportunity to expand their respective group’s foothold in the automotive industry in Malaysia.
It underscores WTCA's commitment to meeting diverse customer needs, emphasizing a broader product range and more efficient service quality. It also aligns with the company's dedication to Economic, Environmental, Social, and Governance (EESG) principles.
Anticipating the launch of its first EV in the first half of 2024, WTCA is ready to closely collaborate with GAC Aion to introduce this addition to Malaysia's growing EV market.
Established in 2017, GAC Aion operates under the umbrella of Guangzhou Automobile Group (GAC) and specializes in the research & development, manufacture, and sales of EVs and related services in China. Essentially, Aion is the EV division of GAC.
GAC Aion has a wide portfolio of sedans, sport utility vehicles (SUVs), and sports cars. In 2023, the company achieved a 77 percent year-on-year growth, producing and selling over 480,000 units of GAC Aion vehicles. The company says that it is the fastest automaker to reach the 1-million-unit sales milestone, achieving this feat in just 4 years and 8 months.
The quest for automotive knowledge began as soon as the earliest memories. Various sources information, even questionable ones, have been explored including video games, television, magazines, or even internet forums. Still stuck in that rabbit hole.
