Be among the first Malaysians to touch and experience the interior of the Smart #1 this weekend at the Carlist.my’s DRIVE Auto Fair 2023 happening this 1-3 September at the Setia City Convention Centre.

Being a premium product, the interior is an opulent place to be in. Of course, given its origin has some Mercedes-Benz DNA, anything but a luxurious compact is to be expected.

The leather, plushness of the seats and feel of the plastics are all pleasing to the touch. Taking centre stage in the cabin would be the 12.8-inch infotainment touchscreen powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8155 chipset. Yes, the same one from smartphones.

Almost all vehicular functions are controlled via the screen and the shipset makes access snappy. From the air-conditioning to even the side-view mirror is handled via the screen. The colours are vivid and crystal clear, again, to be expected of a premium product.

There’s even a AI fox that follows you around as you whizz around menus. Finishing off the interior is a 13-speaker Beats audio system. For the driver, there’s a 9.2-inch display as the instrument cluster.

Being a compact SUV, the dimensions of the #1 is best described as Proton X50-sized. Unlike the Proton however, it nails interior space. Room at the back is impressive, as are the wide door openings of the frameless doors to get in.

On the performance front, the #1 features an electric motor on the rear axle providing 272 PS and 343 Nm of torque. All that gives it a zippy century sprint time of 6.7 seconds.

Power is stored in a 66 kWh lithium nickel manganese cobalt oxide (NMC) battery, good for an estimated WLTP range of between 420 km to 440 km.
